So, I’m alone again, naturally.* I have been letting friends know over the past few weeks that I resigned from my incredibly great new position at 7Summits.  It was not them; it was me.  The more I got into the thick of the work, I realized I am far too independent for a real day [...]

SEP 11.0.5 to 12.1.2 Upgrade Gotchas?

I need a solution

I'm looking to do an in-place upgrade from SEP 11.0.5 to 12.1.2 and was wondering whether this will be a straightforward process or requires a lot of preparation to ensure success?  I currently have a 11.0.5 SEPM along with SQL 2005 on the same Windows 2003 server supporting about 3000 SEP 11.0.5 clients.  My understanding is that a 12.1.2 SEPM should support SEP 11.x clients but can I upgrade the existing SEP11 clients to the 12.1.2. client from the 12.1.2 SEPM or do I need to utilize 3rd-party software delivery to get this done?

Can DLP servers run as VMs?

I need a solution

The number of physical servers depended on the number of your detection server.

You need 1 server to install Oracle and Enforce server. Then, you need 1 server to host the Network Monitor. You can deploy Endpoint Prevent and Endpoint Discover server into 1 physical server. And, you still need 1 server to host the Network Prevent for Email.

So, you will need 4 physical server to host all your available modules on your DLP license.

Can these 4 servers all be virtual machines all on one physical server instead needing 4 physical machines?

Backup Exec 2010 R3 patches

I need a solution

Is there a package that I can download that includes BE 2010 R3 including all the service packs and patches ?

I am upgrading 30 servers, and have to upload the base install, run the install, then run through Live Update 3 times to download all the service packs and patches. This is very time-consuming and very heavy on the network.

There does not appear to be any way to download the service packs and patches for local distribution - it has to be done individually through Live Update.

Thanks
